I'm looking at a 1997 Evinrude Model E15 EEUC 15 hp outboard tomorrow. I'm told it's had light use and the photos the seller sent me look great. Anything in particular I should look for on this engine? I plan on pull starting it (it's going on a 12 foot inflatable that I will also be buying next week) and wondered if it would be worth removing the starter motor and solenoid to trim off a couple pounds? I'm not going to have a trailer and this is the biggest motor I think I will be able to manage by hand. Any thoughts?

Thanks! :)

if you take them off, save them, that takes $4-500 off the resale value of the motor. you will have to look at the wiring before determining if it is an easy take off.

Thanks, I bought the motor. Looks very well taken care of and started very easily with just one pull while the engine was still cold. I looked inside and I think I can just disconnect the wire leads pretty easily, so that's all I plan on doing.
