Question about fuel filter

It been a while since I posted. May be some one can help.
I have a Volvo Penta 96 5.0 EFI. What I want to do is change my gas filter to a Racor, But I can't find the replacement for mine (Volvo 3862228, Sierra 18-7989), The reason for this is I have no way to check if there is water in the filter with out removing the filter. Or would I have to add another filter before the OEM filter?

You would need to add a second filter. Just remember. The clear plastic bowls on the Racor filters are NOT to be used with IO engines. They are for outboard applications only.

Yep knew that one, I was looking for the steel bowl filter only because I can't Check for water with out removing the filter. kind of a pain. But if anyone knows the number for the racor replacement it would help a lot.

There isn't a Racor filter with a drain replacement for the oem filter that is on the engine.

Ayuh,...

Napa sells a drainable fuel filter for my 4.3l Mercruiser...

They may have the Volvo version...

Napa sells a drainable fuel filter for my 4.3l Mercruiser...

They may have the Volvo version...

You don't have a filter like the small fuel filter used by Volvo. But off he goes expecting to find one because you say your Merc has one. Believe it or not, Volvo and Merc are not the exact same thing.

Well I checked with napa, and no luck with the filter, So I will be using Don.S
sugestion and add another filter. I thought that is what I had to do, but figured I would ask. Thanks for the help.

Believe it or not, Volvo and Merc are not the exact same thing.

Ayuh,... Which is Why I stated I have a Mercruiser,+ Not a Volvo....
