I am redoing the paint on the hood of my 93 90hp and have a question about the attchment of the rubber seal that goes around the bottom of it. The rubber is in real good shape but very dirty, and it is held on with large stainless steel staples. I got these out but what do you secure the rubber with after the re paint?

Better, for this purpose; it is used for sealing rubber and gaskets and is not effected by oil and gas.

Re: Question about hood on 90hp

When I replaced the rubber seal on my V6 hood, I reused the original stainless staples. I had about a 15% fallout during removal, but the rest were reusable. It worked fine. In some cases, I drilled new pinholes throught the seal into the cowling lip to get the staple where I wanted it.
