Question about installing new impeller

Hi
I am putting a new water pump in my 1999 Johnson 150HP Oceanpro. It says to lube the impeller with ( BMCA Outboard Lubricant ) . Is this necessary ? On my inboard-outboards I just used laundry soap on the impeller.

Soap will work just fine.
