Question about Key West 1720 Pro

I recently purchased a 1720 Pro "flats" boat. Overall I am very satisfied with the boat but I have noticed that water keeps getting into the boat through the drain holes that lead to the scuppers (in the stern). The scuppers look like they are in working order. The water never gets to the point where the boat looks like it's going to sink, but it does get to the point where any gear laying on the floor near the stern gets wet. This only happens if we are trolling around (using a bow mounted trolling motor) or sitting in one spot. Once we get the boat moving at a good clip, the water drains. Is this normal? If so, any suggestions on how to keep the water from getting in?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Question about Key West 1720 Pro

I have a 1900 CC and I never had that problem. we even use the raw water wash down and the water we use to wash down the inside runs right out the back. I would take it back to the dealer.

Lots of luck,

hope your dealer takes care of the problem. keywest boats will take all summer long and wont repair the problem thats my experince with them.they"ll tell you lie to hide thier defects.i had to go to SC to get my boat started and they never finished the repair.

Re: Question about Key West 1720 Pro

we sell the Key West line and have seen that "decks awash" problem many times...you have the batteries and the baitwell in the stern plus the seating...to fix it--there are some self-bailing scuppers that attach over the outside hole and have what looks like a ping pong ball inside that seals the hole when it floats---they work well 8)
