I've search the threads and I'm not sure I understand, when you make up peanut butter to set stringers is everybody just using the resins that are used for lay up and adding the cabosil and chopped mat?

Correct. Just catalyze the resin first. Actually it is chopped strand, but you can make your own by chopping up matt.

Re: question about peanut butter

Rocky, the term "Peanut Butter" refers to the consistancy of the epoxy or polyester putty foks use to "Bed" the stingers. The putty fills any voids in the joint between the hull and te stringer, and then hardens to help stick the stringer to the hull. You can use several layers of saturated glass cloth or mat to do the same thing, provided the voids are not too large.

If the voids are large, either the hull is not true, or the stringer is not made precisely. If it is the latter case, the "peanut butter" may be necessary.

I would use poylester resin and chopped glass cloth or mat for the bedding agent, if I needed it. I normally do not have large voids so I use 2-3 layers of saturated glass cloth to bed the stringers.

I don't think it is necessary to try and get a precise fit with the stringers. Just get a decent fit and bed them in peanut butter. It fills all the voids and ensures that there are no hard spots.

Have a great day,

Rob.
