question about pistons

have 90 merc want to no if after market piston worth 30 dollars you save or would you stay with name brand pistons

I have certain "aftermarket" pistons I use/sell and certain models I only use a OEM. I always use a "cast" piston for replacement if possible.

In my school of thought, it all depends on how many you are replacing. There are several choices for aftermarket. I don't like to mix factory with non factory although a lot of folks do. If changing just one then I'd stick with Merc. If changing all then it's pretty much an open field. I run cast GLM's in my stock 135.

As a side note, just because they appear to be for racing doesn't mean your motor will be faster with a race piston.
