I have a 94 four winns with a 115 omc turbojet I have
been working on for about a month and have it running pretty
good. My question is, when going down the lake if I push
the key primer for just a second it surges.I know that this
puts fuel directly into the intake, but at WOT shouldn't it
be getting all it can take anyway. Is this normal or do I
have a fuel restriction.
Thanks gglass

Re: Question about pushing key primer at WOT

You are injecting a larger dose of gas at WOT and it is at it's peak efficiency. The only reason it surges is because of more gas making the burn hotter. It is really not a good practice and certainly not good for economy. At a low throttle it may even bog the motor.

Bob

Re: Question about pushing key primer at WOT

Hi GGlass,
Without the engine running push the control handle all the way to WOT, then take a look at the throttrle plates. They should be horizonal. If not check the sync $ link. They may not be opening up all the way, or going past horizonal in effect reducing the WOT.
Good Luck
P.S. could be that one or more of the hi speed jets could be plugged, or partly plugged.

Yes that would be indicative of a lean condition. So, what do you do to find out why? A plug check might give you an idea if it's just one cylinder. I suppose you could pull the carbs and inspect the jet orafices, and float levels. Check the fuel pump and filter for delivery. If all that checks out well them maybe it can be rejetted.

Most people would never even notice. But if it is indeed lean it could be bad to run it hard in that condition.
