When you set idle timing on engines equipped with QS do you have to ground out the temp switch telling the CDI engine is warmed up? Thanks.

Is just letting it warm up an option?

You can do either but it has to be out Q/S to set idle timing.

Boobie is correct and I myself set up all the timings at lake so engine has back pressure. I made a test prop and can turn 5500 rpm on the trailer.

I'd bet it's a prop with the ends of the blades cut off equally to a certain point.
