Question about Sea Doos

So I ran across two 96 Sea Doos I believe, One is GT and one is GTX I think. One may be a 1997 as well. Anyways neither one runs but I couldn't refuse the deal considering it came with a double trailer in great shape. Does anyone know of a reputable place to buy rebuilt engines? Im thinking these have the 650cc engines but iam not sure, I know nothing about jet ski's to be honest.

I do know if I have the option to upgrade the engine size I would do that. (within a somewhat tight budget of course). Basically Im looking for an experienced Sea Doo person to point me in the right direction, Thanks in advance.

try and get a service manual for them so you know what to do and how to work on them. where to get them though i don't know, but they are most important...
as for the engines. try here... http://www.sbtontheweb.com/ put one in my kawasaki when i had it... worked dandy...

Dont just rebuild because they dont run. I bought a 92 yamaha waverunner for 250$ with a trailer that didnt run and have been having fun on the water for about 6 months now. Start with a compression test. You can buy the tester for cheap at your local mega parts store.

True...Buy a manual, run a compression check, check for spark, then make an informed decision on what to do (both these test are easy-even if you are mechanically "challanged"). If it has good compression and you do not want to work on it haul it to a shop....They may not need a rebuild but a much cheeper repair instead.

Normally swapping a bigger engine in a jet ski is'nt an easy or cheep job, but upgrading the stock one is easy/cheep (to a point of course).

Can't help you with finding a motor but I see you're in Elkton.
If you need a SeaDoo dealer I'll recommend J and J Powersports in Wilmington, De. Not 'cheap' but I've used them for the past 4 years to service my '97 GTI. The owner (Jim) is a good guy and has always treated me right.
