question about self-bailing

When I am sitting still fishing on my key west cc I can see water come back up through the self bailers. This only occurs when two or more people are standing in the back corner of the boat. My question is... Is this normal for some water to come back up, and can you plug it so no water comes back up. I will try to upload a picture. The two circular stainless objects on either side of the prop are the bailers.

Re: question about self-bailing

Love that Key West, troy -- very nice!

As for self sealing scuppers, try getting the covers with the ball valve. Water on the way into the boat float the balls which plug the holes.

My Scout scuppers are like this. Granted, they do allow a bit of water to seep in at rest with people on board but they are set at such a height that it isn't more than a cupful or so. If the boat is underway or sitting empty, everything drains right out.

I find the water intrusion annoying so usually just keep regular bilge plugs installed in the inboard side of the transom until I tie up, then pull the plugs out just before I go ashore and forget it. For me it's more the dockside benefit of draining rainwater than anything else.
