Question about selling new motor, or new motor and boat

I have a 1985 lund, new paint, completely remodeled interior, with a brand new Yamaha F25 with 0 hours (new control box, wires, harness, tach etc). I paid 5000 just for the motor and install of all that stuff.

Here's my question, do you generally make more separating the 2? IE selling the new motor separate, then selling the boat and trailer without a motor? Seems like a lot of work, but I'm only asking $4200 for both, and have only had minor interest. It seems like outboard motors sell faster because more people are looking to repower their boat, rather than buy a whole new boat. Then there's the fear that I'm left with a boat and trailer with no motor, and no interest. Any help would be appreciated, I need to sell both pretty quickly.

If it was me, I would wait until spring to sell as a package. your now near the end of season in many locations and demand for boats is slowing down.

used boats just don't hold their value.... there are literally MILLIONS waiting to be sold..... they are like anchors.....hard to move.... I think it is better to separate...if your Lund is aluminum, you just might find a guy who wants a project and he wants to start at the bottom....fix it up, and move onto buying the trailer and maybe a motor even later on, as he can afford it. if you sell it as a package, you will get less, and you will have to wait for a guy who wants exactly what you are selling...

you might have a 2 stroke motor and the buyer wants a 4 stroke motor...and hes moving on.... or vice versa!....

with thousands of fiberglass boats these days, the owners cant get rid of them... they NEED to tie $100 bills to their old glass boats...just to entice a buyer...

I see ads all the time $1000 for a boat motor and trailer....or $1200 for just the motor!!

good luck
