Hi Nautijohn,
first I would like to apologize for any implied attack on your advertising photos of the trim tabs. Though I still think the horizons should be horizontal (for aesthetics and proper representation). Secondly, I am interested in purchasing a pair for my 12' Avon inflatable. Thing is I also want to get a pair of launching wheels for my boat, the kind that mount on the transom. I don't know how your tabs are installed to the transom and I'm sure you know how the transom wheels mount. So I am asking you could they both exist back there without getting in each others way? I also pack my boat up after every use (deflated, in the canvas bags), would this damage the trim tabs. Could they be removed after every session(not too difficultly)? And lastly, do they hinder the movement of the boat while in reverse? Thanks. I know this is a mouthful, and my suspiscions are that there will be several conflicts with this configuration.

Adam

Re: Question about Smart Tabs & my inflatable booot

Hi Adam;

The launching wheels may present a problem but with some ingenuity you may be able to fit them in. We have recently introduced a new model ST781-20 with composit plates for roll up inflatables. The plate are made of laminated composite plastic with smooth rounded edges so that when stored there are no abrasive edges to scratch the tubes. They are designe to fold flat to the transom however with the wheels this may not be possible. As for backing up, you shold have no problems since they are only deployed 25 degrees ( about 2 1/2" ) at the trailing edge. The biggest issue will be the wheels. I have seen them but not looked very carefully as to how they are mounted. If they are through boleted to the transom, maybe you could use wing nuts on the inside and remove them when not needed. I hope this helps but please feel free to call me 800-233-0194.
