Question about solvent for VST filter cleaning

I've read not to use carb cleaner when cleaning the vst filter screen. Everything I've read says use a "solvent." What kind of solvent is recommended to clean the VST filter on a Yamaha HPDI?

I use Berryman's B-12 for solvent applications....pretty good stuff for a variety of cleaning jobs...
