Question about steering connecting kicker motor to big outboard

I like the simplicity and affordable connecting rod that Cabella's puts out to connect the steering for the big outboard to my kicker motor, but here is my question. Because of the shape of my transom (2002 Lund Fisherman) the steering rod for the big outboard sits 6 inches in elevation below where I would connect to the kicker. Is it a simple matter to just put an "S" shape bend in the rod to account for the elevation difference. Any other suggestions related to the topic would be of interest. Thanks

You don't need to if you have a straight line of sight from one point to the other. It'll work fine even if the whole rod is at an angle. It doesn't need to be horizontal. Or you could bend it too.

JimS123 pretty much covered it. If you do not have a line of sight connection or the two motors are on a different plane from one another and bending the linkage rod does not allow full range of motion, you can make a simple bracket. That's what I had to do but it was easy and well worth the effort.

I bent mine but I think it will work if straight too. I made mine from some old SS rod and a couple of go kart tie rod ends. Much cheaper for me.
