Question about the Clams Link / Sync Procedure

I've got a 1987 115hp Tower of Power Inline Six and recently rebuilt the carbs and the fuel pump. When I tried to set the idle screws per the instructions by Clams Canino, I couldn't set the idle screw on the top carb because the engine WOULD NOT stumble when I turned in the screw to clockwise. Turning the idle screw clockwise will cause the engine to stumble on the middle and lower carb but not the top while engine is idling at 850 RPM.

Does this mean:

- Carb floats are set wrong?
or
- Fuel Pump is not producing enough pressure?
or
- This is normal and I should not worry about it?

Re: Question about the Clams Link / Sync Procedure

Are you getting spark on the top cylinders? With the engine running, and using plastic or well insulated pliers, carefully pull the plug lead off the top cylinder... You should notice the engine speed drop slightly, and you may hear the spark inside the plug cap as you pull it away from the plug. Do that check on all 6 cylinders. You should get about the same RPM drop for each cylinder.

Re: Question about the Clams Link / Sync Procedure

sounds like your top carbs not working , my 115 had the same problem exept on the bottom carb , she'll run on two carbs but not verry well . because its only running on 4 cyl. your best bet is to send it to clams and have him go threw it . it only costs 25 plus 5 for the return post you can find his web by clicking on his logo or call864-287-2638 and ask for wayne. best move i made solved a lot of headaces.
