Question concerning boat hatch release shocks and their lift capacity.

I have a 1996 Sylvan V196 with a rea hatch that pops up to access the motor compartment. I am having my sundeck (topside of hatch) being re-done and I noticed that the shocks need some attention as well.. All I can get off the shocks as far as information is "SL34-20" which I know the 20 is for length, but how much lift pressur should you get? Is there a suching as "overkill" or "underkill"? The hatch if I was to guess is about 60-80 pounds dead weight if the shocks are off.

really i dunno? but take one off and visit your local auto parts maybe they will have replacement ones there? worth a try huh ?
