Question-Do you have to remove distributor to remove cyl head on a 2.3 liter engine

I'm replacing head gasket in my cobra 2.3L and book says to but i'm down to it and it's not in the way, it doesn't look like i would have to unless something inside the engine requires me to. Any one know? Thanks

I found out you don't have to but I didn't know how to delete the post thanks again..
