DHPMARINE, You told someone in another thread :
Does this engine have VRO ? If NOT the regular fuel pump can rupture its diaphram, and flood one cylinder, and keep it from having any power output. But it will usually run when not in gear. Can you get some insulated pliers and remove one plug wire at a time?If one cylinder is dead, this could be the cause.
I wanted to know how to check the fuel pump to see if the diaphram was ruptured? I have done the plug wire test and have a dead cylinder. In a three cylinder engine how does it flood one cylinder and not all of them?

Thanks
-TR

The fuel pump only uses one crankcase for pressure/vacuum pulses, TR. If the diaphram ruptures it will flood that one only.

To make sure I understand. If the diaphram ruptures it will flood one crankcase through a vaccuum line. So if you trace the vaccuum line from the fuel pump and pull it, it should have fuel in it if the diaphram is ruptured. Is this a correct assumption.
