question for lubedude re :synthetic oil

lubedude i have 1997 115 v4 90 degree with vro hooked up.i would like to switch from my xd25 oem oil to a synthetic.I can not get synthetic Pennzoil for outboards in canada.I can get shell nautilist synthetic apparantly Shell Oil owns pennzoil? might be the same oil in a different package?.Do i have to drain my oil tank or can i mix the two when the level gets low.the package says nothing about remote oil mixing,just gives pre mix amounts.Thanks Scott

If they're both TCW-3 oils, they will mix just fine, although it would be best to wait for the tank to empty.

You need to make sure the oil you are looking at is ok for oil injection as some are not, you should be able to contact shell and find out, Oz is right about mixing, I do not know of any oils that will not mix together anymore, allthough there probably are some. If there was a problem, I think it would say on the bottle. There are a lot of Amsoil dealers up there, ask around, as the HP Injector oil is a great product.

Amsoil is available at Canadian Tire in Canada.

cobra 3.0 Thanks , went there today and bought all they had and they have ordered another case for me . lubedude.. do i still need to put carbon guard in my fuel ? now that im using amsoil .Now if I can find a raker prop im set to due more testing..thanks again

I wouldnt bother, Ive never used it and dont think I need to. How long has it been since you decarbed/ If it has been a while, I would do it so you are starting off fresh and clean, maybe a new set of plugs too.
