Hello all,

I have a few questions for those with the knowledge. I had a 1997 Force 40 on my pontoon. Did a compression test and bottom cylinder was 130 and top 20. My understanding there is no point rebuilding this engine? I need to get my pontoon back in the water, I have a 1981 Mercury 50hp 4 Cylinder, serial number 5798253. There is no tilt/trim unit, I know I will need this for pontoon. I am having trouble finding the complete unit type/number I would need to add to this. ***************** show the individual pump/cylinder, but I need to know what type used unit I could search for on ebay, ect. to use on this unit. Or would it be wiser to just buy a CMC pt-130 unit for the tilt/trim? I am assuming the tilt trim on the Force cannot be adapted for use on this engine? The Mercury runs great and taking it off an old Newman runabout I do not use. Is the 1981 Mercury suitable for use on the pontoon. It is 20" shaft. Pontoon size is Fisher Freedom 22'. What would be the ideal prop size/pitch for the Mercury on the Poonton set up? I know a lot of questions. I thank in advance to those that can shed some info on these questions.

Also, what will I need to hook up rpm gauge on pontoon to this boat? I assume there is no need to get a new gauge? Would the one off the Force motor work on the Mercury? I am assuming the controls will work but throttle linkage may be different.
Thanks.
