I currently have an Alpha One SS outdrive on my boat. The boat Originally came with an Alpha one gen2 outdrive. The Alpha SS has become unrepairable. I've been told that I can't even just swap the lower unit on this drive. I have to swap the complete outdrive. My question is this: If I buy an Alpha One first gen. outdrive will it bolt to the Gimbal housing on the back of the boat or do I have to swap this also. I'm pretty sure that if I go back to the Alpha Gen 2 that this will have to be changed, as I can see the original mounting holes for that drive. I would think that being the SS outdrive was of the earlier model generation that the Gimbal mount on the stern should be the same as the standard Alpha one. Can anyone clarify this for me?
