Question on coil...

I have a '78 90hp merc with distributor.
Do i have to put this jump/ground wire like this..


I have a new coill and it has a little metal ground looking piece

The coil must be grounded. The second picture looks like it is grounded with the strap. Put a nut on it to make sure you get a good ground. If it were me, I would re-install the ground wire as well.....
