Question on Merc Carbs

Do certain years of the same carburetors, not use as many gaskets?

My manual shows the main jet has a gasket. Mine did not, but if I remember right, the jet was tapered, as was the seat.

Also, there was no gasket on the idle tube, but on is indicated in the diagram. maybe it's my flooding problem.

Jets are normally taper fit, without gaskets. Sidebowl Merc carbs have a brass plug over the main jet, which has a gasket.

I do not think the idle restrictor tube has a gasket either.

Some inlet needle seats have brass crush gaskets, some don't. If the inlet seat is too high, skip the gasket. If too deep, use a gasket.
