Hi,

Well finally got this used boat ready to hit water my first boat purchase was a 19ft bowrider with a outboard now the other boat is a 24ft deep V cuddy crusier my question is I will still be in freshwater but any other owners had a noticeable difference in handling and performance? the boat has a merc 5.7 I/O with alpha 1 sterndrive.
Thanks

If I?m understanding your post, you?ve moved up to a 24? I/O. Probably the most noticeable difference you?ll see is improved ride and increased ability to run through heavy chop without jarring your teeth loose. Should be a huge difference between a smaller trihull and a larger deep V. You?ll also likely experience ?Deep V drift.? At idle speed the boat will not stay on a dead straight course. It will want to veer a little in either direction forcing you to correct. Then when you get it straightened out, it will veer a little in the other direction. I read somewhere that it has to do with angle of deadrise and some hulls are worse than others. The boat in my avatar was real bad about it, but after I learned not to overcorrect, it was easier to manage in tight quarters. Other than that, boat should basically handle like your outboard with adjustment for physical size and increased area to catch wind. Enjoy your new boat!

every boat even the same brand and model, handle a little differently. you have to get use to the boat, and what it is and is not capable of doing. i have a 23 deck boat, with 5.7 fantastic package.
