Question on resealing lower unit

1972 Evinrude Hydro electric shift, 50hp. I am currently resealing the lower unit and am having trouble figuring out how to replace the housing assembly oil retainer. It looks as if the bearing is pressed in and the oil seal sits behind it. But looking at the schematics in the manual, it shows that it goes in from the top. Is anybody familiar with this, if you search Evinrude part #038086, it is the oil retainer for this piece. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The bearing is pressed into the cylindrical part of the housing and the oil seals are set from the top, back to back.

BTW; The number you gave is missing a 5.
