I have a 1990 Glastron with a 230A engine. I went to install a new impeller yesterday and discovered the old one has the vanes going both directions. Not good! (I have been building my house for the past couple of years and have been out of boating, and ready to get the boat back in action!)

The manual simply says to "install a new impeller."

Isn't this style of pump supposed to turn the vanes the correct way regardless of how it is installed? What's the proper way to install this impeller?

Just to answer my own question for future reference. I turned the engine over to verify the direction it rotates and the impeller straightened itself out. Maybe it went backwards a little when I turned off the engine before. Hard to tell... but it apparently does turn the vanes in the correct direction after installation. I installed it by pushing and turning in a clockwise direction till it lined up with the key and then it slid on with no issues. Here's a shot of the old impeller before changing it out but after bumping the engine over.
