question on war coverage?

I hate to sound so simple, but why is it we never see what our troops are doing in "Afghanland - what a buddy who just got home from) , their progress etc???
I remember as a little kid seeing stuff on the news in Vietnam...

Flooding the airwaves about TomKat is much more important... It does seem the coverage about Afghan has dropped off all of a sudden...

My guess, that there is really not much different, going on there, than last month, or last year.

That's what "news" is, something new.
