Question re plumbing on Azure AZ220

Just started 'winterizing' my 2007 AZ220 and while running the faucets to fill the lines after putting pink anti-freeze in the freshwater system I noticed that the drain from the sink in the head emptied into the bilge and not overboard like (I'm pretty sure) the bar sink does. Is this the correct method for handling the waste water from the sink in the head or do I have a problem? Thanks in advance.

some do that by design.... I would trace the drain and see where it goes... fix it if it is simply broken AND if it were my boat I would change it to drain overboard if it isn't broken.

The sink in my galley drains overboard. The sink and shower in the head drain into a closed sump box with a bilge pump and float switch that pumps it overboard.

I can't imagine that a sink would simply drain into the bilge, where stuff that's washed down the drain, and soap scum, could make things smelly. If that's what's happening it's a pretty poor design, IMO

Did that to the best of my ability. If it is a disconnected connector, it is somewhere under the deck and inaccessible. Duh on me. Just realized this: if it is a disconnected connector, the connection would be made into the head floor drain (which by all appearances is routed to go overboard). I just need to put a flush through the floor drain and see if it winds up in the bilge. Thanks for making me think.

most of the time the "head floor drain" ie shower drain is below water level and requires a pump to go overboard... many have a sump as jolin mentioned but some just drain to the bilge... poor design in my book

Example, my friend's regal ambassador 28 drains to the bilge... my montecarlo, has a pump and another buddy's thunderbird has a sump.

Possibly you have a sump and a pump with a float switch that is not working and IT is overflowing into the bilge....

Usually if you look long enough you can find an access hatch or door... maybe under carpet... that will allow you to painfully contort your arm, scraping yourself on jagged fiberglass, and blindly feel around till you touch the various guts of your plumbing.... not always as easy or fun as I make it sound:facepalm:

Quite sure there is no sump with pump. Seems like the drain would be below the water line. More thinking ......

Too funny. Sounds like you have been there, done that.

If there is an access door it is well hidden. Even more thinking ...

doyall I was able to find the access ports under the hatch for storage in the middle of the cockpit. There are two circle ports. The one closest to the engine is the fuel tank/pickup/anti-syphon valve access and the one furthest from the engine is where (at least on my 2006 az220) there is a sump pump enclosed. Thankful that I found your post because both of my sinks on the boat empty via ports on either side of the engine compartment and down into the bilge. I suspect that this pump isn't working to pump it overboard.
