question regarding 93 johnson

hello everyone,<br /><br />i have a couple of questions regarding my 93 60 horse johnson outboard.<br /><br />The first has to do with my power tilt/trim. Sometimes my motor will not trim up, sometimes it will not trim down. To fix the problem, I tap on the relay, and everything is back to normal. This problem usually occurs once an outing, and i am wondering if a new relay is all that i would need? It seems like it would be a pretty simple fix, but i have to admit, when it comes to fixing things, i am not very literate.<br /><br />The second question has to do with my warning system I think. My motor runs perfect, but for some reason last weekend, I heard a continous beep. It was not a repeated beep...beep...beep. but just one long quiet beep that lasted until I turned off the motor. <br /><br />If I could get a couple of pointers it would be much appreciated.<br /><br />steve

Tapping on the relays to make them work says that you probably have some corrosion or bad connections somewhere in the box. <br />The continuous alarm is the overheat alarm. Perhaps its time for a waterpump and thermostat service.

Walker,<br /><br />thanks for the reply, I will have to check the relay box, as for the water pump, when I bought the boat, (a couple of months ago) the dealer told me he put in a new waterpump. Could it have already broken down? I've probabally only had the boat out about ten times or so.

Hey Kodiak, did you resolve your issue with the tilt/trim problem? I have the same problem, also on a 93 Johnson. My problem is only on the "down" side, was thinking of replacing that relay. Any idea of the cost? Thanks Tmac
