Question Regarding Bass Boat

I bought a 1993 Cajun Bass Boat, and since they are no longer manufactured I can't find any boat docs to answer my question. On the dash there is a push/pull switch labeled fuel. This boat has a 1992 Johnson 60hp with built in fuel tank. Now the boat will run no matter which position the switch is in. If anybody might have a clue as to what this does, please let me know. It is baffling me.
Thanks
Tex

Found this by searching google...

"The switch for the fuel gauge was described to me as just being a protection switch for your dash unit. It seems the dash unit cannot at times take the hammering from the sloshing in the tank when running rough water. You just turn off the dash unit to save it."

Might want to check this place out, seems to have a lot of info for Cajun Bass Boats.
