Question regarding seals

I notice that Seloc manual says to install seals with either the lip up or lip down depending upon where the seal is being used. However, I believe the seals they refer to are seals that only have one sealing lip. Where as most of the seals I have encountered now use the more popular double lip design. I noticed that most double lipped seals have a metal outer ring. One side of the metal ring has it's edge rolled. While the other has only a slight bevel. My question is which side of the seal should be pressed into the housing? The rolled edge or the bevelled edge?
