Question regarding switchbox

This is my 2nd switchbox on my mercury 850 I am not getting spark and my coil is not getting any juice when i turn it over everything on it has power except coil , what makes these things go bad and is there anything or anyway to rig it up so I dont have to pay 500 bucks for a new one

Unfortunately there is no way around the switchbox. If you don't have one already, go to www.cdielectronics.com and download their trouble shooting guide.

This will help you to figure out where your problem really is and hopefully it won't be the switchbox.

If you don't already have the Merc Manual for you engine you should really try to get one. I think there's one on here in a sticky at the top of the forum that will cover your engine. If not, you may have to resort to buying one from Merc via boats.net or crowleymarine.com.

Steer clear of the the Seloc and Clymer manuals, they're too broad for anything other than basic maintenance.

You got a bad trigger in distributer, check with the CDI troubleshooter and start looking on Ebay if $$ is tight.
