I use to have a 150-hp 90-degree crossflow 1986 carburated Evinrude on my boat and now I have a 1995 150-hp 60-degree loop-charge carburated Johnson.

My question is, comparing these two motors, which one is suppose to be stronger, meaning more power eventhough their are both 150-hp,and which one is better on gas consumption.

Any one around here knows the benifits of owning either one of these two motors.

Re: question

The 60* by a ton. On power and fuel.

I just took off my 60* 150 and put the crossflow back on the Dusky so we can sell it. The wife calls it the "chugger" compared to the "zinger".

Re: question

Dhadley, thanks for your reply, however I'm not sure I understand your reply. Mainly my question was that if the looper is better than the crossflow when it comes to saving gas and if it has more power than the crossflow, but on you reply you sort of contradict your self because you first say that the looper is better, then you go on saying that you removed the looper that you had to put back on you boat the crossflow. Why would you do that if you said that the looper was better on gas and power.

Re: question

He's doing that because he's selling it, because it's a "chugger", he doesn't want to sell his looper because it's the better motor.

Re: question

Exactly. We put the crossflow back on the Dusky to keep the price down. And then somehow the 60* ended up on my son's flats boat. Imagine that...
