Hi you all,
I was looking at Lund boats tonight on the net I was really likeing how the 1675 Explorer Sport looked.
I noticed that they are not welded  just riveted. How many of you have a lund boat or know someone that does. I am intrested in knowing how the riveted hulls hold up over time.
I know I keep looking at alunium boats and the reason is I have found that they are a lot cheaper than a fiberglass boat.
Thanks for your help and advice.

Re: Questions about Lund boats

Welds can crack, rivets can be pounded back and you're good for another million nautical miles. They still make air planes out of aluminum and they don't weld them...they rivet them.Rivets are stronger and can take more flex...at the same time a weld does not compare. We own a 2010 Lund WC14 and we love our boat. Before we bought our fishing boat we did run in the same dillema...weld or rivet, rivet all the way (think air planes). You will love your Lund, on this forum there is a Lund Owners forum, look when you scroll, alphabetical order and you're in Lund Heaven !

Not to fret, my riveted 1984 Lund is still dry as a bone. Not a rattle anywhere on the boat.

Re: Questions about Lund boats

In this part of the country, Lund is by far the most popular boat on the water, followed by Alumacraft (riveted) and then Crestliner (welded). They are all good boats and will serve the average user well. It is normal to see resorts up here with OLD Lunds rentals used and being beaten to death. The resorts up here use them because they last forever.

Up here, nothing has a better resale value except for maybe a Ranger.

Me and my friends have / or currently owned five Lunds. Any were sold do to "one more footitis".
The current crop are Explorer, a Rebel and a new Fury ??? from the 2012 Boat show.
Love Lund.
I have been caught in some serious weather and got home safe and worry free.
