I have a chance to pilot a 36' Albin from Lake Superior thru Lake Ontario in May---I have lots of questions

1- should we take a lake route instead of trying to go thru the Trent-Severn waterway between Huron and Lake Ontario

2- I have been trying to find milage charts on the internet before I go buy expensive charts --- any ideas

3- If anyone has taken this trip before -- any comments would be great

Thanks Steve

Re: Questions about trip thru the Great lake system

You only have 2 choices, the trent-severn or through Lake Huron,St.Clair River, Lake Erie, Welland Canal to Lake Ontario. Trent- Severn is much shorter and deep enough. A friend of mine went thru a few years ago with a 42'. But you need to watch your draft. He was with another boat of equal size and it scrapped bottom. Either way, it's bound to be a memorable trip.
