Ok first off, 1983 85HP Chrysler FORCE, just resealed lower unit and no milky oil or water anymore, YAY. Ok back to it, so i took the boat out and she preformed rather well but just had a few issues and wanted your thoughts and ideas to determine if i should worry about it. Took the boat to Bass Lake IN which is notoriously shallow, I ran acrossed a sand bar and ran the prop through the sand. She immediatly died, so we hopped out and pushed her back into about five foot of water and restarted. She didnt want to go over right away but eventally turned over and worked like normal, no indications of any issues at all. Well, my 250 lbs brother decided he wanted to tube, so why not, i got him going and seemed to have no problem reaching thirty mph. Then a jet flea jumped in front of us and i had to stop, so once it left i throttled back up and nothing. She just bogged down( 5500 RPM) and didnt go, so i put it in neutral and let her idle for a minute. I then gave her some gas and off she went, never had trouble with her again that day. The boats max weight is 750 and we had about 650 worth of men in it, three big boys. So i got her home today and and uncovered her and left her in the sun to dry out and decided i would fire her up on muffs to see if anything obvious was going wrong, and nothing, she fired up and purred like a kitten. Ok so my questions are, should i worry about this one event? Do you think it was an intermintent fuel problem, the fuel pump is 3 yrs old but hasnt given me any trouble. I have a replacement kit in hand, should i just change it out anyway? Do you guys think i spun the hub on the prop? After grounded the prop was nicked up and had some paint removed but nothing that should hurt performance. Should i check compression and spark to make sure everything on the head is normal? Or do you think that the heavy load of men in the boat hurt the performance alone? Let me know your thoughs guys, right now Im leaning at just a funky two stroke motor fluke since everything else is ok.

If the prop hub slipped it would probably keep on slipping!
If it bogged down and then went after idleing the carbs probably loaded up with gas when you throttled back then cleared after a little while.
It's time to rebuild the fuel pump before you get stranded.
Be sure and keep an eye on the water coming from the pee holes glance at them every now and then and make sure there's water spraying out. max!

Maxum didn't fully explain himself: running through a sand bar and sucking up sand does a major number on rubber water pump impellers. So: Keep a sharp eye on your water flow and overheat indicator.

On the positive side, the water pump is so high above the intakes and there is so much volume in the passage that you may have gotten away scott free. However, it never hurts to be careful.
