Jeff,if your memory is good you helped me out a couple weeks back with a GSX that had 1 of the charge coils shorted out. Well now I guess I will be able to replace the stator. The back gear behind the flywheel is shot(starter gear) My question is,,I assume I need to pull the flywheel to get this gear assembly out....... If I remove the stator and pickup coil, how do you time this beast. The stator and pickup coil do not seem to have any adjustments in the bolt holes. I have done a plie of snowmobiles,,but usually they are on a moveable plate.Next question,,,on the motor it says SBT 54744,,is this a aftermarket motor what. I am real new to skis so this has been a learning curve,,thanks for all your help. Also, where is the best places to buy the stator.. And oh yeah,,,there is a small box mounted to the hull by the heads with power to it,and a hose from each rave valve,,what is the technical name for this,,some kind of temp sensor I assume.

I don't quite understand some of your terminology, If you have stripped the flywheel where the bendex makes contact and the starter can't enguage and you are planning to pull the cover and fix the stator and we are talking about a 951 engine I don';t believe there is any adjustment for the timer base as the computer controlls it but be carefull about marking the magnets that go to the flywhyeel and pit that drum on exactly the way it came off or your timing will be off and the engine won't run, also replace the key on the flywheel it costs about 5 cents. the rave controll module is the thing you are talking about and the number means the engine was a rebuilt s b t engine if it has their number on it, that number is what they record for warranty info. for used parts I always go to www.jetkingparts.com

Yes the motor is a 951.The gear that is shot is the back gear in the bendix assembly behind the flywheel that the starter is always in contact with. Also,I have already marked the magnet drum before I pulled it,,I did notice that it could go on different than when it came off. And that makes sense about the timing,,like I said,,any sled that I have done was on a stator plate(moveable for timing)
