Questions for Winterizing Outboard Force 120HP

Ok so I have been doing some reading and watching some youtube videos and from what I have gathered to winterize my boat is this.

1) Use fuel stabilizer and run engine for 5-10 minutes. But am not sure to how much fuel I should leave inside. Close to none or half or max?

2)Take off engine cover, connect running water to boat, and then start the engine and slightly give it some power. Then to spray fog oil into carberater until engine dies.

3)After that unscrew each spark plug and spray some fog oil inside fittings and turn the flywheel each time and repeat process for all 4 spark plugs.

4) Put tilt all the way up and Drain and replace gearcase lubricant.

5) Remove battery and drain plug.


steps 1-5 are the confirmed steps I will take if I can verify they are correct. The questions below this are things I am not sure of yet so I need some help. Any other input of something I have not mentioned would help I am going to do exactly what I said, i didn't leave out any details.

I was thinking about skipping these bottom 4 if not important.....
A) Spraying engine cleaner into carberater on engine before fogging? Do I apply same way as fog oil? if needed
B) Do I need to wax the engine as a final step?
C) Is marine grease important to apply to moving parts?
D) Spray the entire powerhead and electrical wiring with silicone lubricant

1 & 4 are the most important. Fogging is not a bad idea. I wouldn't bother with the other stuff.

Agree with ezmobee except you say it's an outboard, if stored outdoors, it should be stored in the full down position to prevent freezing water from getting trapped.

I missed that. You definitely don't store it tilted and at least on my Evinrude you don't drain the gear oil that way either. Perhaps those are Force-specific instructions dependent upon where the drain is.

I would do the Gear lube before you start it up.. Your heavy particles are allready on the bottom of the drive and you dont want to disturb it :)

1. Add fuel stable
2. change your gear lube ( your unit has to be drive down ).
3. Change oil if its a 4 stroke.
4. remove the air horn if needed if its carburated
5. hook up muffs..start..fog motor if its carburated ( NOT Injected ).
5b. If it is injected..let run for 10-15 min.
6. Store with drive down if possible ( Unless your shrink wrapping..then shrink tape your prop hub..and shrink below the prop hub ).
7. Disconnect batteries and remove drain plug.
8. trailer jack up :)

Should be good to go .. you may want to hang some Damp absorbers somewhere before covering up..

what do you mean by the full down position? I was saying I raise the motor up to drain and replace gearcase lube then after I put motor down. My driveway is a bit slanted. The street is about 2-3 feet higher than house level and driveway is about 15-20 ft. I dont know what you mean by full down position.

What I mean by full down position is with the motor as close to vertical as if you were running it. You should change your gearlube in this position also because otherwise some lube will get trapped inside.
