1st question- where can I find amphenol socket connectors, I have a broken one on my tack that is keeping it from working set off the warning horn.
2nd- I am getting a slight surge at about 4500-5100 rpm. the surge is very regular about every 10-15 seconds and the rpms change about 100rpms in that interval, almost like a cyl cuts out and then returns.
History on the motor: power head rebuilt in jan. of this year, new water pump, rebuilt carbs, new fuel, recirc, oil, primer lines. Vro 1yr old and tested at rebuid. Motor commpression 135psi all cyls. checked fuel pressure, and oil consumption by the gallons the boat has used since the rebuild. engine has 74hrs since rebuild. after break in checked timing and fresh ql77jc4 plugs gapped at .040. Starts great, wot 5900 rpm.

Anybody have some thoughts on this

First thing I'd do is re-gap the plugs at .030 and clean all coil grounds.

Re: questions on a 1986 rude 140hp

I checked the grounds and tested the coils for resistance on the primary side as well hot side. All were within the specs all very close to each other. Also checked batteries and charging voltage and its putting out between 13.2-13.5 for aq short time. The batteries started out at 12.3volts. Anyone had this problem. It pulses very constant for a small rpm drop. Thanks in advance for any light on the subject.

What is the wot timing set at?

When the motor starts the surging process, does changing the trim angle change anything?

yes if I lower trim it seems to put more load on the motor, if I raise the trim it will start to cavitae and will not turn without cavitation. put again it will the rpms and gets me out of that particular rpm range that it will surge.
