questions on i/o transom

hi i am pretty sure i have to replace the whole transom? the bottom half of it is very rotted can send ice pick all the way threw to skin,almost all the way across boat.as you can see in the pictures i have a ledge or floor that meets the transom up from the bottom of boat question is how far toward's front of boat do i cut that out so i can get to all the transom?

If your planning on just redoing your transom that would be hard. I had to remove my engine mounts in order to slide the new transom in. I would assume it would vary per boat.

By the looks of the pictures the transom is not going to be the only worry you have.I bet the stringers are gone too.The engine,drive,transom plate and floor will all have to come out. Looks like a complete restoration

well guess i will just dig in and see where it takes me, i knew it was a project when i bought it
