Questions on recent purchase of Mercury OB

Recently purchased a 16' Sylvan with a 40hp Mercury 2stroke 4 cylinder motor. Been trying to find an owners manual for this motor but getting dead ends. Supposed to be a 1992 model, both boat and motor are in near mint condition and I woukd like to keep them that way..
This motir has the oil injection tank under the cowl, looking for instructions for proper filling, when to fill, how much run time on a tank, maintenence needed etc..can anyone point me in the right direction. All the searches I have tried state..."manual not availiable"....
So where do I go or who do I see...many thanks in advance!!!

That motor will run about 50::1 gas to oil. So if it is a quart, it will last for 12 gallons of gasoline or a bit more. Those oil reservoirs usually have a level sensor to tell you when they get low.

Just get a service manual for that motor. Much better than an owners manual and will; have all the owners manual info as well.

Thanks, been searching for a manual but not finding anything. Most places say " no longer availiable" , figure I would try ordering thru my local marine dealer. Hate to guess the cost if it can even be ordered.

This is a genuine free download (as opposed to the scamming come-ons) for a service manual relating to 1998 models, including the 40hp. It is some 550 pages and I confirmed that it is genuine by downloading it myself. You have to answer a Captcha, then click on the top "download" button, wait 30 seconds and click on the download again. It comes in quickly, so cannot be too large a pdf file. I clicked on the link, Adobe Reader opened, the PDF downloaded and appeared. I clicked the Download icon, and it saved it in my Downloads folder.

However, this manual is for 3 cylinder engines...
