queston concerning 150 black max

i am considering buying a 150 hp black max late 80's early 90's
model how reliable are thes motors also any thing i should look for before buying it. what kind of gas mileage can i expect it will be put on a 19ft javelin 320a weight 1350 lbs dry.

Good engines as far as I know, son's is fine, others on here seem to like theirs; care is paramount however, then there are the usual housekeeping things like anything else.

Silvertip has proven that at WOT 10% (more or less) of your HP is your gph. At reduced throttle you could run half that (give or take) at "just on plane" speed.

I just bought a '93 135HP V6, which is the same or similar as the motor you are interest in. It is a proven design, with excellent power, and has therefore not had too many changes since introduced. The major changes were in charging system, slight changes in carb design and fuel pump and significant differences in Power Trim and Tilt.
