I have an old 16 foot smoker craft that the last guy put a deck in by riviting the wood to the ribs/stingers. Now 3 or 4 of them are cracked. The one time I had it in the water I noticed it flexing pretty good.
Can I get replacements or should I just haul it to the junk yard for scrap?

alum can bring in good money at the scrap yard, probably enough to pickup another project boat

Depending on how bad they're cracked, you might be able to get them welded or brazed.. if it's not too bad even that zinc "aluminum repair" rod might work.

But without pics I can't tell ya.

I would imagine that they go by the pound? If so... any links to what to expect regionally in way of prices?

Just curious.

Called the local metal recyclers Answered my own question;

Locally in Ottawa Ontario:
$0.60 per pound clean - No steel rivets or wood or insulation.
$0.15 per pound "Dirty"

What is the market like in your area?

i think last time i scraped some clean alum i got around 85 cents per pound. you also get more if you cut it up into prepared scrap sizes.
