Would you use thread lock when you install the rocker arm nuts? The manual doesn't call for it, but I want those suckers to stay in place! :)

1997 Mercruiser 4.3, Vortec, 20ft/lbs torque on rocker arm nuts + thread lock?

What 20ft/lbs of torque are you talking about? Last I knew they were adjustable valves.

There is a difference between rocker-arm nuts on a 1997 and an earlier 90's 4.3. On an earlier 90's 4.3, the studs have a lock nut that you tighten down until the push rod doesn't wiggle up and down, and then you turn the bolt another 1/2 turn. (If I remember right). On the 1997 engine, you actually just torque the nut down to 20ft/lbs.

Hey, I did it, and she runs GREAT! I torqued the bolts down to 20 ft/lbs and chose not to use loc-tite.
