Quick gimbal bearing question

Hey Don S., when replacing the gimbal bearing it says that the notched edge should face forward. Maybe I'm a little slow but does that mean that it faces toward the front of the boat or faces toward me as I install it?

This is an Alpha One drive not an I. There is no snap ring in it that I know of. Thanks Bondo, I got it in now, I just wanted to make sure that I didn't put it in backwards.

This is an Alpha One drive not an I.

i stand corrected. my bad. the sb does discribe that the brg and carrier can be installed either way, the old way slot aft(not to be reinstall that way), or the new way, slot fwd.(install this way). in other words, it fits either or, as bondo said. i was just confirming that for ya with a merc. sb. since the brg. in my 1 drive and yer alpha 1 are the same, just thought it might be interesting.

is there still a backdoor open at alt.merc??

i don't know, i just had it in a bookmark from when it was posted along time ago for future referance, which is how i recovered it to post it.
