quick help with a johnson

i have a 1960 johnson super sea horse 40hp rds22 im rebuilding the carb with a new kit i put plastic washer 2 packings then a nother washer in the low speed and four packing in the high there is a gasket for the high speed nozzile does it go in this carb i have a and did i do the plastic washers right not sure if one goes in the high or both in the low

No, there should be no gasket on the high speed nozzle. Just screw it in tightly to the carb body and the bowl goes over it without anything. Some other J/E carbs have one there but not that one.<br />Sounds to me like you have the packing correct. 2 washers go on either side of the packing on the low speed needle (top). The high speed just gets packing.<br />Don't forget to pull the core plug and clean behind it!

i did clean that i have a clymers manual not to good for new do it your selfers i had to ask because i got the omc 439074 kit there are part i dont need well thanks u help a alot

That gasket goes on the later fixed high speed jet carbs - the adjustables don't get it (at least according to my manual). I can't imagine it would do any harm in there if it fits, but it wouldn't have been there originally.<br />Since 439074 fits those later carbs too, they have to throw it in.

no i just thought i would say one last thing i tryed it a min ago the float bowl does not go up tight to the carb looked like i would have pull them togeather with the screws im not going to put that in force is how things get broke well thanks so much for your help well that all i need to know for now thank for your help
