Hi guys, hope this is an easy one. I'm trading out our tired 14x19x3 SS Vengeance props for a new set of 14.5x18x4 black diamond aluminum (I know, but I can't afford new SS right now). This is on a 1998 Searay 290 Sundancer with T5.7EFI/Alpha GenII drives

Is it fair to assume the hub kit coming off the old props is also the correct hub kit for the new ones? It all fits together just fine, just making sure. The only difference I can see is that the thrust washer looks like it could ride on the plastic hub since it sits flush with the back of the prop, as opposed to on the vengeance where the hub sat further inside the prop and the washer would ride on the metal.

Pretty sure the hub kits are the same. There have been a couple different length hub inserts over the years The thrust washer on both has a detent that fits inside prop hub, the hubs on new props may nit be pushed in all the way. Post a pic if still in question.

the vengance is not really a that high perfomance prop , basically a black max in ss to look nice. id bet you see pretty similar performance, maybe
less top speed but better holeshot and stern lift . Be interested to see how it performs

Should be alike. I wasn’t going to mention…but you think moving to those particular new props is suitable ? As said…the vengeance for me is nothing but a heavier, shiny version of an ally bog standard prop. Usually even outperformed by a black max ally, that I’ve seen.
Anyway..if your rpms and performance was suitable with the vengeance…you reckon the new props will be ok ? What do you have in mind for the outcome? Just being nosey, haha.

That extra Blade will likely kill the Top Speed. What rpms were you getting with old props?

No doubt about it, if he was in the rpm range and we’ll set up with the previous. Think I’d be tempted to get the old ones repaired. Be less out the pocket you’d think too…and being winter with time to spare too.
That said. The above may be relevant to a normal guy…but me being obsessed with props…I’d be selling the vengeance things, then getting proper props for her 😂
