Going to head down to Rapido Marine tomorrow to pick up a replacement 4.3 for my 01 SeaRay. They have a "090M" casting motor already built and ready to load into the back of my truck. From what I understand the M means its got Metric bolts. Based on the year of my boat it should have been a 090 casting (1997-2003) and he said that I would need to change some of the bolts for the starter, flywheel and motor mounts to metric.

Well, I went out to look at the motor and stamped right on the side of the block just in front of the starter is 090 M. I assume this means I already have the metric version so should be an easy swap?? The serial number is M071272 according to the little plate riveted to the block near the starter.

I hope this is the case as I really don't want to try and source out the exact bolts to make this work.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Thats probably a good idea Bondo, to your knowledge, which ones should I be concerned about? Starter and Bell housing? Since one side is already taken apart I already have the exhaust, heads and intake manifold bolts off (Im buying a long block so the heads will already be attached anyway)

Bellhousing and motor mount bolts may be different - I have experienced this. Starter bolts were the same for me. Regardless, its an easy issue to sort. Take some bolts with ya like Bondo said and you know right away.
