bought a used 85 120 vro evinrude many years ago and have serviced it myself since that time, the boat i installed it on had a omc remote control 1992 model. i asumed that the motor had a quick start feature as the manual that came with the motor indicated that it did.but i could never seem to get the motor to start with out lifting the throotle arm on the remote. is this because the 85 120 evinrude didnot come with quick start feature, not avalible at that time ??
what would be the proper procedure to start an older motor of this type.

Re: QUICK START EVINRUDE

No Quick Start on that one ... I have same year 140 (same except HP). Start:
a) Lift fast idle lever (in neutral of course)
b) Press key inward and turn to start
c) Press key inward intermittantly to keep motor running ... release when running steady
d) Allow to idle for a few minutes to warm up
e) Ready to go

Of course, none of the above is needed if engine is warm except turn key to start.

Re: QUICK START EVINRUDE

You're right, it did not come with Quickstart. Start as follows:
Pump up Bulb
Raise fast Idle lever half way up
Turn key and push in
Hold it in while you start it
VVAARROOMM
